Ogun Police Apprehends Suspected Ritualist with Human Head

The Adatan Divisional Police have apprehended a suspected ritualist for unlawfully possessing a human head.

The police said that a resident of Iyana Cele Car Wash, Abeokuta, Nojeem Balogun, on June 24, 2024, at about 03:30 pm, reported a gruesome finding at his late father’s grave in Isale Itoko, Abeokuta.

Balogun reported to the police that his siblings had alerted him to suspicious activities at the burial site the previous day.

The grave upon investigation, was found to have been desecrated, and the victim’s head had been severed.

According to the police, its officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swung into action and apprehended one Lekan Akinyemi, the prime suspect.

The suspect was caught red handed with the human head.

The suspect had dug up the grave and severed the head, allegedly for ritual purposes.

The case has been transferred to the Anti-Robbery unit for thorough investigation and will subsequently be handed over to the State CID for prosecution.
