Davido, a prominent figure in Afrobeats known for his consistent string of hits over the past decade, has added his touch to the remix of the trending single ‘Ogechi.’ This song has gained significant popularity on TikTok, with over 300,000 videos featuring it.
In celebration of his upcoming wedding to fiancée Chioma, Davido announced on his social media accounts that the remix will be released on June 25, 2024, the day of their wedding. He shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on June 24 that he was dropping a verse for his wife, accompanied by a snippet of his contribution to the remix of ‘Ogechi,’ originally by Brown Joel, Boypee, and Hyce.
‘Ogechi’ has enjoyed widespread success in Eastern Nigeria and on TikTok. Davido’s participation in the remix is expected to propel the song to even greater heights, following his trend of elevating songs with his remixes.
Earlier this year, Davido was featured on Kizz Daniel’s ‘Twe Twe’ remix and collaborated with the South African group TxC on ‘Yebo,’ as well as with rapper Frenna on ‘More Pretty Girls.’
With his verse honoring Chioma on the ‘Ogechi’ remix, fans eagerly anticipate another hit that blends Afrobeats with Indigenous Igbo music, similar to his previous successes on KCee’s ‘Ogaranya,’ Humble Smith’s ‘Osinachi,’ and Larry Gaga’s ‘Doubting Thomas.’
