A staff member of a new generation bank, identified as Mr. Nosa, was reportedly murdered by suspected cultists in Benin City, Edo State. The tragic incident occurred last Thursday evening after Mr. Nosa had finished work for the day at the Government Reservation Area (GRA) in Benin City.

Sources reveal that Mr. Nosa received a phone call while still in his office, seemingly from a friend who invited him to a hangout at a local joint. On his way to the meeting, he was ambushed by the assailants, who opened fire on him without warning.

A witness, speaking on the condition of anonymity, recounted that the victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where, despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead.

Chidi Nwabuzor, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incident. “Yes, the Command can confirm it; it is an unfortunate incident. The matter is currently under investigation,” he stated. Nwabuzor assured the public that the police are committed to apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

This incident has heightened concerns about the increasing rate of violent crime and cult-related activities in Benin City. The GRA, known for its relatively peaceful environment, has been rattled by this brutal attack, prompting residents to call for enhanced security measures.

Cult-related violence has been a persistent issue in Edo State, with several incidents reported in recent times.
