The Board of Trustees of Iresi Community Polytechnic, situated in Osun State, has announced a proactive measure aimed at curbing online fraud, commonly known as “yahoo yahoo,” among its student body. The initiative, aptly named “Operation No Yahoo,” was unveiled following a recent board meeting where Chief Oludaisi Aina, Chairman of the Board of Directors, emphasized the institution’s commitment to eradicating this illicit practice.

In a statement issued by the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Alade Adesesan, Chief Aina underscored the necessity of redirecting students’ focus towards the ethical and productive use of ICT knowledge. He stressed that “Operation No Yahoo” is not only targeted at the polytechnic’s students but also aims to positively impact the wider community.

Joined by representatives from the Oluresi-in-Council and other members of the Board of Technology and Governing Council, Chief Aina outlined additional measures to promote innovation and creativity among students. A central hub will be established to foster artistic endeavors and provide a constructive outlet for student talent.

“This initiative will leverage innovation to combat yahoo yahoo,” Chief Aina declared, emphasizing that “Operation No Yahoo” will be more than just rhetoric—it will be actively supported with tangible actions.

Furthermore, the polytechnic plans to implement stringent monitoring measures to ensure compliance with ethical standards among students. These efforts align with the institution’s broader strategy to maintain a crime-free campus through educational campaigns and collaborations with law enforcement agencies.

Looking ahead, Chief Aina reaffirmed Iresi town’s commitment to providing students with a high-quality education, equipping them to tackle future opportunities and challenges effectively.
