The Chairman of Evergreen Musical Company, Chief Femi Esho, has died at the age of 77 after a brief illness. His family confirmed his passing on Monday.
Esho, affectionately known as Baba Esho or Baba Musician, was a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry. He founded the Evergreen Music Heritage Foundation and mentored many in the Highlife music scene.
Until his death, Baba Esho played a crucial role in preserving and promoting various Nigerian music genres, including Highlife, Juju, Sakara, Apala, and Afrobeat.
Burial arrangements will be announced by his family soon.
