Nigerian Breweries Plc has fulfilled its commitment to the Maltina-Teacher-of-Year (MToY) Award winners by sending five previous awardees to Tempere, Finland, for an all-expense-paid capacity-building program.

The educators, Olasunkanmi Opeifa (2018), Oluwabunmi Anani (2020), Abanika Taiye (2021), Alaku Ayiwulu (2022), and Adeola Adefemi (2023), participated in a rigorous ten-day training from May 20 to 30. The program in Finland encompassed various modules aimed at enhancing teaching skills with practical applications.

Except for Collins Ezem, the 2019 winner based in the UK, previous winners Rose Nkemdilim Obi (2015), Imoh Essien (2016), and Felix Ariguzo (2017) received their training in the UK.

In addition to the international training, each award winner, including Ezem, received a cash prize of N6.5 million. Furthermore, their respective schools benefited from the construction of a block of six classrooms.

Mr. Hans Essaadi, Chairman of the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, which oversees the competition, highlighted the purpose of the training. He emphasized its role in equipping teachers with advanced methodologies to enhance their teaching effectiveness and positively impact society.

Essaadi reaffirmed Nigerian Breweries’ commitment to contributing significantly to education development in Nigeria and fostering a skilled workforce for the nation’s economy.

The recipients of the training expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund for enabling the fulfillment of all award promises. They described the program as transformative, enhancing their leadership and teaching abilities.

Established in 1994, the NB-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund continues to promote educational advancement in Nigeria, with the MToY award competition introduced in 2015 as part of its initiatives.
