Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board member, Christopher Green, has stated that Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, should not be blamed for the team’s current struggles.
The Super Eagles are on the verge of missing out on another World Cup due to their poor performance in the qualifiers, where they have recorded three draws and one loss.
After four games in Group C, the Eagles are languishing in fifth place with just three points, trailing leaders Rwanda by four points.
In response to the team’s disappointing results, the NFF Executive Committee convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday and made several resolutions.
A key decision from the meeting was the plan to appoint an expatriate Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles in the upcoming weeks.
However, Christopher Green expressed his disapproval of this decision. “I’m not in support of a foreign coach for now. If they had brought a foreign coach earlier, or when Peseiro was leaving, it would have been different because the foreign coach would have come as an expatriate.”
Green continued, “What support did they give Finidi George? You appointed Finidi George less than one month before crucial matches and you expect him to do magic. Finidi George is not the problem.”
