Burna Boy has achieved another significant milestone, becoming the African artist with the highest-grossing tour in Canada. Following the release of his 2023 album ‘I Told Them,’ Burna Boy embarked on a worldwide tour, selling out iconic venues across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

According to Touring Data, Burna Boy grossed $5.7 million from 69,219 tickets sold across six concerts in Canada, setting a new record for African artists. This achievement was shared on June 13, 2024.

Previously, Burna Boy made history as the first African artist to headline the Scotia Bank Arena in Canada, selling out the 19,000-capacity venue on February 24th and 25th, 2024. This record-breaking feat underscores his status as the leading African artist globally, continuously setting new benchmarks.

Earlier in the year, Burna Boy became the first African artist to perform at the Grammy main ceremony, sharing the stage with 21 Savage and Brandy for a performance of his hit single ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’. At the 66th Grammys, he also became the first Nigerian artist to be nominated outside the global categories, with ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ receiving a nod for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

Burna Boy kicked off 2024 on a stellar note with his guest appearance on the remix of Titom & Yuppe’s ‘Twala Bam’ remix, which made history by becoming the first South African lead song to reach the summit of the TurnTable Top 100. These achievements reflect Burna Boy’s immense popularity and his pivotal role in bringing African music to the global stage.
