The autopsy report for four-year-old Miguel Ovoke, who tragically passed away on the grounds of Brickhall School in Abuja in April, has been released. Initially, the school refrained from commenting on the incident to prevent the spread of misinformation. In memory of Miguel, Brickhall School named their early childhood education resource room after him and announced their support for a foundation started by his parents.
The autopsy report, conducted at the National Hospital in Abuja, revealed that Miguel choked to death on a piece of pork from his lunch. According to a statement by Janet Agwu M. on behalf of the school’s administration, relevant parties were present during the autopsy.
The statement clarified that Miguel suffocated after choking on meat or offal, addressing false information that had been circulating about the cause of his death. The school emphasized that it had waited for the completion of the autopsy before making any public comments to ensure accuracy.
Miguel’s parents have accepted the tragic incident as “an act of God,” according to a verified copy of the autopsy report from the Nigeria Police. In honor of Miguel, Brickhall School has renamed the early years resource room after him and pledged continued support for the foundation established in his name.
The school administration extended their condolences to Miguel’s family, friends, and fellow students. They also expressed gratitude to the Brickhall community and the parents’ group for their support during this challenging time.
Miguel was laid to rest on Friday, May 10, at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja, as announced by the family’s attorney, Deji Adeyanju.
