The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released its weather outlook for the upcoming days, predicting a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday across various regions of the country.
According to NiMet’s forecast, released on Sunday in Abuja, Monday will see sunny skies with intermittent clouds over the northern region. Morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, and Borno states. By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are likely to occur in areas including Zamfara, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Borno, Kano, Taraba, and Adamawa.
In the North Central region, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated. There is a possibility of morning thunderstorms in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa state, with thunderstorms expected later in the day in the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue states.
For the southern states, NiMet forecasts a cloudy atmosphere with morning rains in parts of Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states. Thunderstorms are expected throughout the region later in the day.
On Tuesday, NiMet predicts patches of clouds with sunshine intervals over the northern parts of Nigeria, alongside morning thunderstorms in areas such as Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Taraba states. By the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are anticipated in Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Kaduna, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa, and Jigawa states.
The North Central region will experience similar weather, with cloudy skies and sunshine intervals. Morning thunderstorms are expected in parts of Kwara and Niger states, followed by thunderstorms later in the day in the FCT, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and Niger states.
For the southern states, a cloudy atmosphere is expected with morning thunderstorms in parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
On Wednesday, the forecast continues with patches of clouds and sunshine intervals in the northern region, accompanied by morning thunderstorms in parts of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kano states. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected in Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, Taraba, and Adamawa states.
The North Central region will again experience cloudy skies with sunshine intervals. Morning thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Niger and Kwara states, while later in the day, thunderstorms are expected in the FCT, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau states.
In the southern states, the pattern of a cloudy atmosphere with morning thunderstorms over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states will persist, with thunderstorms expected throughout the region later in the day.
NiMet advises the public to stay updated with the latest weather information and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms and heavy rains.
