In a decisive move to alleviate the struggles of commuters and residents in Kogi State, Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho, representing Kogi East, has taken firm action regarding the stalled Lokoja, Shitanku, Dekina, Anyigba Road project.

Following a petition submitted to the National Assembly, Senator Echocho summoned Tech Engineering Limited, the firm responsible for the project, to his office for a detailed explanation on the status of the road construction.

During the meeting, Senator Echocho underscored the vital importance of this infrastructure development for Kogi State and its residents. He voiced his concern over the delay in completing the project, which was initiated last year, and demanded a thorough explanation for the abandonment.

Mr. Ding, the Managing Director of Tech Engineering Limited, explained that the delay was due to the kidnapping of senior management staff and threats made against their project engineers on site. He apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured that the company is committed to resuming work on the project.

Senator Echocho directed Tech Engineering Limited to restart work within the next two weeks, warning of further action if the deadline is not met.

In a statement from Senator Echocho’s media office, it was revealed that the company has also taken steps to address security concerns by requesting assistance from the Nigerian military.

“This development is a welcome relief for the people of Kogi State, who have been suffering due to the deplorable condition of the road,” the statement read.

“The prompt action taken by Senator Echocho demonstrates his commitment to serving the people and ensuring that critical infrastructure projects are completed to benefit the community.”

Senator Echocho’s intervention is a significant step towards addressing the challenges faced by the people of Kogi State. It is hoped that this project will be completed soon, vastly improving the lives of residents and commuters.
