The Anambra State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Godwin Nzeribe, has called for the support of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance border security and immigration management.

During a visit to Commandant Maku Olatunde at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Awka on Thursday, Nzeribe emphasized that inter-agency cooperation is crucial for addressing issues such as illegal migration, human trafficking, and other transnational crimes.

“Our agencies’ alignment with the Ministry of Interior necessitates a synergy to achieve our mandates effectively, particularly in enhancing border security and immigration management in the state,” Nzeribe stated. “My visit to your office is to obtain briefs and to strengthen the inter-agency synergy between NIS and NSCDC. Thank you for your warm reception and continued collaboration with NIS.”

In response, Commandant Maku Olatunde reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to collaborating with the NIS. He highlighted the NSCDC’s achievements in protecting critical national assets, combating quackery in the private security industry, and fighting petroleum product adulteration in Anambra.

“The need for us to collaborate cannot be overemphasized,” Maku said. “We are ready and willing to continue the existing relationship and share intelligence in achieving our mandates.”

This partnership aims to improve the effectiveness of both agencies in maintaining security and managing immigration challenges in Anambra State.
