“I’m delighted to be in Lafia today for the official hand-over and symbolic presentation of food items to internally displaced persons, people living with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in Nasarawa State under the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ food outreach scheme, part of our Social Investment Programme,” Mrs. Tinubu announced.

The food outreach scheme aims to support the underprivileged in alignment with the administration’s commitment to ensuring food security and sufficiency nationwide. Mrs. Tinubu explained, “Under this scheme, a trailer load of assorted food items is being donated to the state government for onward distribution to identified groups, courtesy of a notable and public-spirited industry that has committed to making the food items available every month.”

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of the Vice President, revealed that the Renewed Hope Initiative governing council has also approved a grant of N50,000 for 1,000 women in the state as part of the women’s economic empowerment programme. The grant will soon be disbursed to beneficiaries from the 13 local government areas of the state.

Additionally, Mrs. Tinubu disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative, has finalized plans to donate a truckload of fertilizer and bags of rice to each state, starting with Nasarawa State. She commended the state coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule, for her warm reception and support.

The event was marked by a significant turnout of community members and officials who expressed their gratitude for the support. This initiative is seen as a critical step in alleviating the hardships faced by vulnerable populations in Nasarawa State.
