Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu swore in Sam Egube on Thursday as his new deputy chief of staff.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

Mr Sanwo-Olu urged the newly appointed deputy chief of staff to work in accordance with his administration’s goals and not rest on his laurels.

He said this was necessary to deliver good governance to Lagos residents.

“Congratulations. Your hard work got you here. I believe that you will give your best as you have always done. Madam, thank you for supporting him. We thank you, and we believe that with your support, he will succeed. I pray that we don’t experience any untimely death again,” he said.

The governor’s former deputy chief of staff, Gboyega Soyannwo, died on May 15, after a brief illness, at 55.

Mr Egube, in his remarks, applauded the governor for finding him worthy of the appointment.

“I would like to assure our governor, my colleagues in the cabinet that I will work as a team mate towards actualising our goals. Thank you all,” Mr Egube, a former commissioner for budget and economic planning, said.
