GITEX’s Launch Set to Amplify Nigeria’s AI and Start-ups to the World

The much-anticipated GITEX NIGERIA, set to debut in September 2025, is poised to become a landmark event, connecting start-up innovators, AI experts, and young talents within Nigeria’s burgeoning digital economy. This expansion from GITEX AFRICA Morocco aims to create new opportunities tailored specifically for Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation.

Announced during GITEX AFRICA Morocco on May 30, the forthcoming GITEX NIGERIA will be held in both Lagos and Abuja. This dual-city event is designed to maximize the potential of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem, offering a platform for global tech communities to explore valuable opportunities in the country.

The event’s announcement was marked by a signing ceremony between KAOUN International, the overseas affiliate of the Dubai World Trade Centre and the organizer of GITEX, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) of Nigeria. This partnership underscores a shared mission to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation and economic diversification through technology and innovation.

Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General of NITDA, emphasized the significance of creating a platform to boost trade and economic diversification in Nigeria. He highlighted the national priorities of digitization, industrialization, manufacturing, and innovation, aiming to leverage GITEX to showcase Nigerian technology on a global stage.

According to the African Development Bank, Nigeria’s economy is projected to grow by 11.2% in 2024. The introduction of GITEX NIGERIA is expected to further stimulate this growth by fostering global partnerships, enhancing technological innovation, and expanding market access for Nigerian tech enterprises.

Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, highlighted the unique format of GITEX NIGERIA, emphasizing its role in exploring the country’s vast potential during a period of significant growth in AI, health, finance, and start-ups. She expressed optimism about co-creating global partnerships that can drive societal betterment across various industries in Nigeria.

Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi reiterated the importance of the event in promoting Nigeria’s technology sector globally and supporting the nation’s economic diversification goals.
