Terrorists launched an attack on the residence of Alhaji Musa Malaha, Chairman of the Zamfara State Hajj Commission (ZSHC), in Gusau, the state capital. The assault resulted in the deaths of one of his sons, Abdulmunaf, and his gateman. Additionally, another son, Mu’awiyya Lawali, was abducted.

The bandits aimed to kidnap the ZSHC chairman but were unsuccessful. However, they managed to abduct several other residents of the area, though no ransom demands have been made yet.

According to Ishiaku Umaru, a resident, the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday with the terrorists arriving at the chairman’s residence and opening fire.

“The shootings woke us up as everyone in the area started running helter-skelter. Nobody can exactly say how many people were killed or kidnapped. But it was certain that one of the chairman’s sons and his watchman were killed while another of his sons was kidnapped,” Umaru stated.

He added that most of the abductees were women and children.

Attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
