In preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, Nigeria’s head coach Finidi George has made a substitution, bringing in Ibrahim Olawoyin from Caykur Rizespor to replace Nathan Tella of Bayer Leverkusen, who withdrew from the squad due to family reasons.

Olawoyin, known for his standout performances in the Turkish Super Lig, joins the team after an impressive season with Rizespor, where he scored eight goals in 36 league appearances.

Additionally, Rangers defender Kenneth Igboke has been called up to replace the injured Victor Osimhen. Nigeria will face South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next week Friday, followed by a match against Benin at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan three days later.
