A two-storey building has collapsed in the Isale Eko area of Lagos State, raising alarm and causing fear among the residents. Reports indicate that numerous individuals are trapped inside the structure, which was already suspected to be defective.
The building’s integrity had been compromised following a recent fire that affected parts of Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island. This same fire had seriously impacted 14 other buildings.
Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident. He noted that four buildings had previously collapsed in April due to the fire’s intensity in Dosunmu Market.
Emergency responders, including NEMA, Federal and State Fire Services, the Nigeria Police, and the Nigeria Ports Authority’s fire service, are currently at the scene managing the situation.
