The Senate has officially pardoned and recalled Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ahmed Ningi, who was suspended for three months on March 12, 2024, for accusing the Senate of budget padding.
The recall was initiated following a motion by Deputy Minority Leader Sen. Abba Moro, who expressed regret on behalf of the suspended senator. Sen. Moro pledged to take full responsibility for Sen. Ningi’s actions, recognizing the severity of the suspension.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized Sen. Ningi’s value to the legislative body, highlighting his resourcefulness and stating that the decision to recall him transcends religious and ethnic divides. The senator’s behavior during the suspension period had been a subject of scrutiny and debate within the Senate.
