The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given the green light for 13 new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete. This significant development was announced by Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the Acting Director of University Relations, who conveyed the commission’s approval in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, on Wednesday.
The approval letter, signed by NUC’s Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary of the commission, outlines the new academic offerings. Of the 13 new programmes, two are at the undergraduate level, while the remaining eleven are postgraduate programmes.
The undergraduate programmes approved are:
- Bachelor in Health Information Management
- B.Sc. Development Studies
The postgraduate programmes include:
- LL.M and Ph.D. in Common Law
- LL.M and Ph.D. in Islamic Law
- M.LIS and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science
- Ph.D. in Human Kinetics
- Ph.D. in Special Education
- M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science
- Masters in Public Sector Accounting
- Masters in Development Finance
These programmes are set to commence in the 2024/2025 academic session and will be offered on a full-time basis.
