The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, alongside the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, unveiled a new office dedicated to the processing of Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR). This development, disclosed by Keyamo on X.com, represents a significant step towards enhancing border security and facilitating legitimate travel.

API and PNR are two technical responses aimed at streamlining traveler identification management and facilitating border management. The newly unveiled office, located at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters, is set to play a crucial role in achieving these objectives.

Keyamo emphasized that the collaboration between government agencies and the private sector was instrumental in realizing this solution. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a delicate balance between facilitating cross-border movements and upholding border security, indicating that the new facility would contribute to achieving this balance effectively.

Furthermore, Keyamo previously announced plans to review agreements Nigeria had entered into with certain nations worldwide, with the aim of ensuring that local carriers can operate international routes without any hindrances. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to promoting the growth and competitiveness of Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The unveiling of the Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record office underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing border security measures while also facilitating smooth and legitimate travel experiences for individuals crossing Nigeria’s borders.
