During the inaugural meeting of NYSC management with heads of Corps Producing Institutions in Nigeria, Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, disclosed the Federal Government’s plan to empower 5,000 corps members with N10 million each for entrepreneurial endeavors post-NYSC.
This initiative, distinct from the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund program for 2024, aligns with proposed NYSC reforms aimed at fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and prioritizing skills development. Dr. Ibrahim emphasized the scheme’s potential to become self-sustaining and revenue-generating within five years, proposing to institutionalize NYSC ventures for strategic investments across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, garment making, communication, and digital banking.
Additionally, representatives like Mr. Wike underscored the significance of technology-driven approaches for operational efficiency and encouraged active stakeholder participation to enhance the NYSC’s impact and responsiveness.
