In a week-long crackdown on criminal activities, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that law enforcement authorities apprehended approximately 428 suspected criminals across various black spots in the state. This announcement was made by Mr. Hundeyin on Monday, highlighting the concerted effort to address criminality.
The operations, conducted daily around 11.15 a.m., targeted areas such as Fagba, Orile, Mile-2, Oshodi, Dopemu, Alausa, and Ijora Badia, among others. Following thorough screenings, individuals found innocent were released, while those implicated are slated for legal proceedings.
These interventions, spearheaded by area commands, divisions, and tactical units, including the Rapid Response Squad, are part of broader efforts to maintain law and order. Over the past four months, approximately 2,500 individuals have been apprehended in similar operations, aligning with directives from the state Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, to curb the activities of miscreants within Lagos.
