The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) reiterated its demand on Monday for the Federal Government to revert to the previous electricity tariff for band A customers before engaging in negotiations with the union.
The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, emphasized the necessity of returning to the “status quo” before initiating any discussions with the workers during a meeting at the Federal Ministry of Power.
Although the Power Minister, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, was absent, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Mamudan Mamman, conveyed the minister’s intention to invite the workers for tariff negotiations following intervention by the National Assembly.
Ajaero stressed that negotiations should not proceed under pressure and insisted on returning to the previous tariff level before engagement.
He warned that failure to revert to the old band A tariff within a week might prompt the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) to halt power supply nationwide.
