In the New York criminal case against former President Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, took the witness stand on Monday, revealing that he had frequent communication with Trump before the 2016 election.

Cohen’s testimony is crucial to the case, as he is alleged to have facilitated hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, a pornography actress, on behalf of Trump. Prosecutors argue that Trump falsified business records related to these payments.

Appearing visibly nervous, Cohen recounted his family history and his employment history with Trump, disclosing that he had a salary of approximately $525,000 per year during the 2016 election.

Prosecutors have been preparing for Cohen’s testimony for weeks, indicating its significance in the case. Last week, they also called Stormy Daniels to the stand as part of their case.
