Samuel Chukwueze, the AC Milan winger, faces uncertainty regarding his participation in Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic due to injury.

Chukwueze suffered an injury during Rossoneri’s Serie A match against Cagliari, prompting his substitution by Rafael Leao shortly after halftime. The 24-year-old winger reportedly sustained a muscle injury to his thigh during the game.

Milan Post confirmed the injury, stating, “Muscle problem in the left thigh for Chukwueze.”

This setback adds to Chukwueze’s recent absence from Nigeria’s friendlies against Ghana and Mali in March. With crucial qualifiers on the horizon, including a match against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on June 7, followed by a fixture against Benin Republic, Chukwueze’s availability remains uncertain.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are eager to secure their first win in Group C after drawing their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Chukwueze’s potential absence could pose a challenge for the team as they strive for victory in these important matches.
