The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing the unemployment challenge in the state through collaboration with Federal Government agencies and other stakeholders.
Adeleke emphasized the existence of job opportunities in the state for aspiring workers and disclosed that various measures have been implemented by his administration to tackle the issue.
Speaking at the Careers and Employment Opportunity Fair organized by the Ministry of Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations in partnership with federal agencies based in the state, Adeleke, represented by the state’s Head of Service, Samuel Aina Ayanleye, highlighted the fair as one of the initiatives aimed at expanding the job market, creating a conducive environment, and facilitating the employment of thousands of unemployed youths.
While acknowledging the substantial federal presence in the state, Adeleke emphasized his government’s determination to do more in addressing the unemployment crisis.
He outlined the state government’s employment agenda, which includes promoting agro-industrial activities to engage both young and old residents, diversifying the state’s economy, and fostering local businesses and contractors to increase indigenous employment opportunities, particularly in the construction sector.
Furthermore, Adeleke announced plans for a program to connect young entrepreneurs with financial institutions, aimed at facilitating access to funding. He encouraged job seekers to enhance their skills, emphasizing the importance of skill acquisition for both self-employment and improved employability.
The governor concluded by expressing optimism about the state’s prospects for economic growth and job creation, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to employment generation and entrepreneurship.
