The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) took action on Thursday by sealing two hotels, an event center, and several other business premises within the Kaduna metropolis due to unpaid taxes amounting to approximately N422.6 million.

Among the sealed establishments were Seals Admiralty Naval Suites, owned by Navy Travels and Tours, Abuja, and Deluxe Suites located at Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna. Additionally, Big City Event Centre, Bijo Surgical & Scientific Limited, Zedvance Finance Limited, TXTLight Power Solution, Lek Dental & Maxillofacial Hospital, Azaka, and Enyo filling station were also affected.

Aysha Ahmad, the KADIRS Board Secretary and Legal Advisor, explained that the exercise aimed to enforce compliance among businesses that neglected their civic duty of tax payment.

She emphasized that resorting to property sealing was a measure of last resort, necessitated by the failure of businesses to fulfill their tax obligations.

Ahmad reiterated that KADIRS prioritizes voluntary compliance and exhausts all available avenues before resorting to enforcement actions.

She urged the residents of Kaduna State to fulfill their civic responsibility by voluntarily complying with tax obligations.
