A 28-year-old housewife, Faith Felix has been sentenced to eight months in prison for pouring hot water on her co-wife by a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The woman, who resides in Gosa Toge along airport road in the FCT, was convicted and sentenced for criminal force, assault and causing grievous hurt, to which she begged the court for leniency.
She was warned by the Senior Magistrate, N. A. Turkur, who sentenced her to eight months imprisonment without the option of fine, to desist from committing such act and be of good behaviour.
The prosecuting counsel, Dabo Yakubu, earlier told the court that the complainant, Stella Jecus of the same address reported the matter to the police on May 2.
He said that on the same day, while the complainant was asleep, the convict intentionally poured hot water on her without any reason.
Yakubu told the court that during police investigation, the convict confessed to have intentionally committed the act.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 267, 268 and 247 of the Penal Code.
