Governor Zulum Approves N637.5m for College of Nursing Students in Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has given the green light for the disbursement of N637.5 million to cover registration fees and monthly allowances for indigent students enrolled at the College of Nursing Sciences in Maiduguri.

The executive secretary of the State Scholarship Board, Bala Isa, disclosed this during a briefing with reporters on Monday in Maiduguri.

Isa outlined that the approved amount includes N393.5 million allocated for the monthly allowances of 1,088 students, amounting to N30,000 each from January to December. Additionally, N202.5 million is earmarked for another set of 1,013 students’ allowances, while N41.3 million will cover registration fees for 997 newly admitted students under scholarship at the college.

Governor Zulum, through this initiative, encourages students to remain diligent, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to absorb them into community service roles within their respective local government areas upon completing their training.

Reiterating the government’s dedication to education, Isa underscored ongoing efforts to promote learning at all levels and urged citizens to seize these opportunities.

The beneficiaries of this government support are students pursuing national diplomas in nursing, community nursing, community midwifery, and basic midwifery, thus ensuring access to quality education for aspiring healthcare professionals in the state.
