The Federal Government has refuted claims of plans to establish foreign military bases in Nigeria, labeling the allegations as false.
In a statement released by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government urged the public to disregard the misinformation.
Idris clarified that the Federal Government is not engaged in any discussions with foreign countries regarding the establishment of military bases in Nigeria.
He emphasized that the government has not received any proposals from foreign nations concerning the establishment of such bases within Nigerian territory.
Furthermore, Idris highlighted that Nigeria already benefits from foreign cooperation in addressing its security challenges and reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing these partnerships to achieve national security objectives outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
