Police Arrest Over 50, Dismantle Shanties as Hoodlums Clash in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of over 50 individuals following a clash in the Ile-Epo area of the state. The altercation, which erupted in the market situated in the Ile-Epo area, persisted from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Reports indicate that the hoodlums set the market ablaze, resulting in the destruction of merchandise and other valuables. In response, the Lagos Command, through its spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, has declared that calm has been restored to the area. The statement further reveals that the authorities have demolished the shanties occupied by the suspects, effectively dispersing them.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has mandated the swift prosecution of the apprehended individuals and warned that any breach of peace will be met with decisive action, in accordance with the law. Additionally, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Area Commander Alagbado, and other Divisional Police Officers are actively present to prevent further disruptions of law and order.
