The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has shortlisted three former internationals, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke, and Michael Nsien, for the role of assistant coach for the Super Eagles. These candidates had previously applied for the head coach position, indicating their interest in contributing to the team’s success.
Following the confirmation of Finidi George as the Super Eagles head coach on Monday, the NFF is now focused on assembling a strong backroom staff to support him. Both Amokachi and Amuneke bring valuable experience, having previously served as assistant coaches for the Super Eagles. Amokachi notably worked alongside late coaches Shaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi, while Amuneke served under Samson Siasia and Augustine Eguavoen.
Michael Nsien, a former Olympic Eagles defender, currently coaches the United States of America U-19 team, showcasing his coaching abilities on an international level. The NFF’s consideration of these candidates reflects their commitment to building a capable coaching team to guide the Super Eagles to success.
