Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has granted approval for the sale of two government-owned estates in Maiduguri, on a basis allowing occupants to become owners.
The estates in question are the Mustapha Umar Legacy Estate situated along Maiduguri-Damaturu Road and the former CBN quarters on Damboa Road, Maiduguri, both of which were acquired by the state government.
Governor Zulum conveyed his endorsement during a presentation of a report by the state committee responsible for the disposal of government properties at the council chamber of the government house in Maiduguri.
In addition to the two aforementioned estates, Governor Zulum announced plans to sell four other estates, including the Bakassi, Gubio Road, Teachers Village, and Fertiliser estates, which were previously occupied by internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Governor Zulum specified that the Teacher’s Village estate would exclusively be available for sale to teachers residing in Maiduguri and Jere Local Government Councils.
Expressing appreciation for the committee’s diligent work, Governor Zulum assured prompt implementation of the report’s recommendations. He commended the thoroughness of their investigation and directed the committee to proceed with the implementation process. Notably, Governor Zulum instructed the immediate initiation of outright sales for the CBN quarters and Legacy Estate, prioritizing occupants who are current residents.
