Tragic news emerged from Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State as reports confirmed the loss of 19 young lives due to suspected measles complications.
Commissioner for Health, Mr Felix Tangwami, disclosed this sorrowful development to journalists in Mubi on Saturday, highlighting that over 200 children in the area have been affected by the outbreak.
The outbreak was first reported in Yola, prompting swift action with the mobilization of medical personnel and essential medications to affected communities.
Tangwami assured the public that children with severe infections would receive necessary medical attention in hospitals.
In response to the escalating situation, the medical team is set to extend its efforts to Gombi Local Government Area, where another outbreak has been reported.
Tangwami attributed the outbreak to the reluctance of some parents to immunize their children, emphasizing the critical importance of vaccination in preventing such tragedies.
