The Qatar Charity Organisation has announced its initiative to sponsor the education of 1,000 orphans in Borno, Nigeria.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno in Maiduguri, the ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, Ali-bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, revealed this commitment on Thursday.

Mr. Al-Hajri reaffirmed Qatar’s dedication to strengthening ties with Nigeria and pledged support to Borno as it recovers from the insurgency, citing the region’s historical significance in Islamic history.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude for Qatar’s multi-million naira project, considering it timely as the state rebuilds after 15 years of insurgency, which resulted in significant casualties and displacement.

He assured Qatar of the state government’s full cooperation in ensuring the successful implementation of humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the people.

During his visit, the ambassador conducted the ground-breaking ceremony for an orphanage school and delivered a lecture at the Nigeria Arabic Language Village in Ngala, Maiduguri.
