Justice Salim O. Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Jalingo has taken action in response to contempt of court proceedings initiated by Pastor Victor Ando Andrew and three other plaintiffs regarding the Taraba State Football Association crisis.

The court issued summons on Friday, directing the Taraba State government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership to appear before it. The state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Joseph Joshua, has been ordered to personally appear on the next adjourned date.

Furthermore, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Yakubu Maikasuwa (SAN), was instructed to ensure the commissioner of Youths and Sports’ presence in court.

Barrister Onoja Joshua, representing the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and other NFF officials, including the General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, and Taraba State Football Association Chairman, Mr Timothy Heman Magaji, and Hassan Abubakar, was also directed to ensure his clients’ appearance.

The contempt of court allegations stem from a dispute over the position of the Taraba State FA chairman, which prompted the plaintiffs to approach the court. The case is scheduled for further mention on May 27, 2024.
