The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has responded to a circulating online video depicting a purported robbery incident in the capital city involving a ‘right-hand drive’ vehicle, asserting its misleading nature.

Contrary to the video’s narrative, the Command clarified that the incident did not occur within the Federal Capital Territory. The statement, signed by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, highlighted that upon thorough examination, it became evident that the robbery depicted did not take place in Nigeria.

The analysis pointed out discrepancies in the vehicle’s registration number plate design and steering position, identifying it as a Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicle. Nigeria’s regulations prohibit RHD vehicles on its roads, and infrastructure is not tailored to accommodate such vehicles.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, urged individuals circulating the video to refrain from doing so, cautioning against potential panic and unwarranted apprehension among the populace. He reassured residents of their safety and encouraged them to continue their daily activities without fear.

CP Igweh reiterated the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the Federal Capital Territory.
