NASARAWA: Man Collaborates with Accomplices to Extort Uncle

Nasarawa State police have apprehended a man who conspired with two others to orchestrate the abduction of his own uncle.

The trio was apprehended by officers from the State police command stationed at Mararaba ‘A’ Division in Karu local government area.

Identified as Babangida Abdullahi (29), Mohammed Abubakar (27), and Yakubu Sani (30), all residents of Aso B Mararaba, Karu LGA, the suspects devised a scheme to extort money from the victim, Ibrahim Idris, also residing at the same address and uncle to one of the suspects.

Under threat of abduction, the suspects demanded a ransom of N2,000,000.00 from the victim.

Upon compliance by the victim, who handed over the specified amount at the designated location, the suspects were swiftly apprehended following a tip-off after they had divided the ransom among themselves.

The police statement revealed, “The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, and efforts are underway to apprehend a fleeing member of the syndicate.”
