Governor Oborevwori Inaugurates Committee for Resettlement of Sacked Okuama Community

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has inaugurated an Internally Displaced Persons Management Committee for the displaced residents of Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori charged the committee with the crucial task of meticulously planning the resettlement and rehabilitation of the innocent citizens of Okuama community.

He emphasized the need to minimize the adverse effects on the common people of Okuama following the unfortunate incident that led to their displacement.

The governor reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to ensure that the innocent victims are allowed to return to their homes without unnecessary delay. He stressed the importance of setting up a committee to plan their resettlement and rehabilitation in anticipation of their return.

Governor Oborevwori urged the committee members to approach their assignment with a sense of urgency, demonstrating the highest degree of love and responsibility towards the displaced people. He expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to carry out a transparent, thorough, and selfless job that would make every Deltan proud.

In response, the committee chairman, Abraham Ogbodo, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve. He assured the governor and the people of Delta State that the committee members would fulfill their mandate diligently, with a sense of urgency and transparency.

The committee, led by veteran journalist Abraham Ogbodo as Chairman and Chief Austin Emaduku as Secretary, comprises distinguished individuals who are committed to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Okuama with utmost dedication and professionalism.
