The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General AY Ahmed, has praised the NYSC’s pet project, the Health Care Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), for its potential to facilitate corps members’ outreach to grassroots communities.
Speaking to reporters in Katsina during the swearing-in ceremony of the new 2024 Batch A Stream 2 Orientation Course, General Ahmed acknowledged the longstanding presence of rural initiatives for youth corps members.
He said: “I only ensure that I improve it and sustain the tempo, and I believe, what we are doing now is going to continue even after me. It’s a very good initiative which is meant for the Corp members where they take their services down to the rural dwellers.
He pledged continuous sensitization of corps members through lectures during their camp activities, providing them with valuable tips to safeguard themselves effectively.
