A tragic incident unfolded in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as a policeman, known as Saheed SARS, allegedly shot a corps member named Iyanda Damilola to death on Tuesday. Saheed, a member of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the Oyo State Police Command, reportedly opened fire, injuring Damilola’s brother, Iyanda Oluwafemi, a recent graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

The violence erupted during a convocation party in a lounge around 2 am, when a dispute outside escalated. Policemen arrived and began dispersing the crowd, with Saheed allegedly firing directly at people. Oluwafemi sustained bullet wounds, while Damilola tragically received a fatal gunshot to the head. He was serving in Ibadan at the time.

Oluwafemi recounted the harrowing ordeal, expressing his determination to seek justice for his brother. He identified Saheed SARS as the officer responsible for the fatal shooting, stating that Saheed had led the operation and fired the fatal shot.

When reached for comment, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that an investigation was underway and assured that updates would be provided as progress was made.
