President Bola Tinubu has initiated comprehensive education reform measures aimed at addressing the issue of out-of-school children in Nigeria. These measures, abbreviated as DOTS (Data Repository, Out-of-School Children Education, Teacher Training & Development, and Skill Development & Acquisition), are designed to enhance learning, increase enrollment, and ensure the academic welfare of the nation’s students.
According to Ajuri Ngelale, Presidential Spokesman, the lack of organized and verified data across Nigeria’s education sector has hindered effective planning. The introduction of a new data tracking architecture aims to address this gap, providing accurate information to track student progress and facilitate targeted interventions, particularly for out-of-school children, girls, and those with specific learning needs.
President Tinubu emphasized that the Federal Ministry of Education, through its agencies, is already implementing government policies. The newly introduced systemwide strategy will further enhance education and training opportunities for out-of-school children nationwide, ensuring a brighter future for all.
