The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) is set to receive a significant boost from Globacom, the Nigerian multinational telecommunications company. This partnership aims to equip the agency with modern digital facilities to streamline its operations across the state.
Adesagba Adekoya, Chairman of OYRTMA, made this announcement in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, following a meeting with the management team of Globacom. He expressed confidence that the intervention would greatly enhance the agency’s efficiency and effectiveness in managing traffic flow in the state.
Adekoya emphasized that the adoption of modern technologies would facilitate the agency’s efforts in apprehending traffic offenders, leading to improved road safety and increased internally generated revenue for the state.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to ensuring seamless traffic flow on Oyo State roads, underscoring the importance of collaboration with private sector partners like Globacom.
Adeniyi Odejobi, South-West Zonal Director of Globacom, assured OYRTMA of the company’s support through the provision of modern technology as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. He commended OYRTMA for its dedication to maintaining road traffic orderliness and its ongoing campaigns to promote road safety awareness in the state.
During the courtesy visit, dignitaries including the Zonal General Manager of Globacom, Gabriel Makinde, and the General Manager of OYRTMA, Adeoye Ayoade, were present to witness the discussions.
Following the meeting, OYRTMA conducted a special operation enforcement led by its Chairman, resulting in the apprehension and penalization of 37 traffic offenders. This proactive approach underscores the agency’s commitment to upholding traffic regulations and ensuring the safety of road users in Oyo State.
