Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State is spearheading efforts to transform the state into a technology hub that will serve the southern region of Nigeria, aiming to rival Lagos’ renowned Computer Village.
During a recent meeting with the leadership of the Anambra ICT Agency and journalists in the state, concerns were raised about the lack of a tech hub in the area. Many expressed frustration at having to rely on individuals from Lagos for technical support and solutions.
Responding to these concerns, Chukwuemeka Agbata, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, affirmed Governor Soludo’s commitment to establishing Anambra as a tech hub in the Southeast. He emphasized that the governor’s vision extended beyond government initiatives, aiming to make technology-driven advancements accessible to all sectors of society.
Under Governor Soludo’s leadership, significant strides have already been made in digitizing various aspects of governance and education in the state. Initiatives such as the e-ID card project, the Solution Innovation District, and the distribution of laptops to educators demonstrate a proactive approach to embracing technology.
Moreover, partnerships with organizations like Microsoft and Wootlab Foundation have facilitated the training and empowerment of thousands of Anambra youths in digital skills, further fueling the state’s technological advancement.
Governor Soludo’s vision for Anambra extends beyond government institutions, encompassing the entire community. By fostering a culture of innovation and technological literacy, he aims to position Anambra as a leading hub for technology and creativity in Nigeria and Africa at large.
