Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Integrity Group, also known as the G-5, were in a celebratory mood on Thursday following the outcome of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, former Governor Samuel Ortom, former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ifeanyi Uguwanyi of Enugu State, all part of the G-5, were seen rejoicing over the results of the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja.
The PDP convened its 98th NEC meeting, with key party figures in attendance at its National Headquarters in Abuja.
During the meeting, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP expressed confidence in the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, according to a communique issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
Umar Iliya Damagum assumed the position of acting National Chairman after the removal of Iyorchia Ayu in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election. His alignment with Wike’s camp has contributed to the jubilation among the G-5 governors.
