Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has directed contractors and site engineers overseeing the construction of 260 smart schools and 260 Type-2 primary health facilities to ensure the delivery of top-quality projects within specified timelines.

Mbah stressed the importance of using superior materials and adhering to project specifications, warning against any malpractice, which would result in severe consequences and rejection by the government.

He emphasized the significance of contractors meeting their contractual deadlines to ensure timely project completion and delivery.

During an inspection of ongoing projects in Ezeagu LGA on Wednesday, the governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, highlighted the purpose of the inspection by the projects monitoring team.

The team, which includes key officials such as the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Commissioner for Education, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Chairman of ENSUBEB, and Special Adviser on Projects Development and Implementation, aims to verify adherence to job specifications and the quality of materials used.

Mbah’s objective is to prevent risks associated with construction and ensure the integrity and structural soundness of the projects.

The governor’s approach involves robust monitoring to mitigate cost and time risks, with the team ensuring strict compliance with project requirements.

Local collaboration is also emphasized to enhance project security and sustainability, fostering community ownership of the facilities.

Dr. Ajah, chairman of ENSUBEB, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and contractors’ adherence to specifications, urging communities to take ownership of the projects and ensure their security.
