Billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of X, Elon Musk, has issued a warning to users engaged in farming activities on the platform, stating that their accounts may face suspension.
Musk’s statement comes after recent efforts to remove bots and fake accounts from X, as part of ongoing initiatives to maintain the platform’s integrity.
Engagement farming involves posting content designed to garner likes, replies, and interactions, often with the aim of increasing followers and monetization through X’s content creator program. However, this practice artificially inflates online presence and influence, disrupting the authenticity of interactions and undermining genuine voices.
In response to this, Musk declared on Friday his intention to suspend accounts found engaging in farming activities, emphasizing the importance of fostering an original and organic online environment on X.
The move aligns with Musk’s broader strategy to ensure that content on X is rated based on its originality and quality, rather than manipulated metrics such as likes and retweets. By cracking down on engagement farming, Musk aims to promote a more authentic and meaningful user experience on the platform.
