Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Arrest Suspects in Security Operations

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) revealed that Nigerian troops have made significant strides in internal operations across the nation, resulting in the neutralization of 192 terrorists, the arrest of 341 individuals, and the rescue of 62 kidnapped hostages. Additionally, 122 ISWAP/JAS combatants surrendered with their families, demonstrating the effectiveness of military operations.

In a briefing in Abuja, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, reported that troops confiscated 211 assorted weapons and 6,288 rounds of ammunition from criminal elements. This includes 128 AK47 rifles, 26 dane guns, and various types of ammunition.

Furthermore, troops discovered and destroyed 99 dugout pits, 36 storage tanks, and 192 cooking ovens in the Niger Delta region. They recovered stolen crude oil and other illegal products, amounting to millions of naira.

While addressing the media, General Buba emphasized the importance of citizen support in defeating terrorism. He stressed that the security challenges faced by Nigeria are self-inflicted, citing instances of insurgency, illegal activities, and agitation. General Buba warned against any actions that contravene the constitution, stating that severe military action will be taken against violators.
