In an early morning operation, police officers from the Maroko Division of the Lagos State Police Command apprehended a driver, Azeez Babatunde, after recovering weapons from his minibus.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the command, issued a statement on Thursday detailing the incident. According to the statement, at approximately 5 am, anti-crime patrol officers observed a minibus performing a sudden u-turn upon spotting them on Hakeem Dickson Street. Sensing something amiss, the officers initiated pursuit.

As the officers closed in, six individuals leaped out of the minibus and dispersed in different directions. However, the driver, Azeez Babatunde, remained in the vehicle and was subsequently arrested by the police.

A thorough search of the minibus yielded alarming discoveries: two locally made pistols, two unexpended cartridges, and a knife were recovered. The police have commenced investigations into the matter.

The apprehension of Babatunde and the recovery of weapons underscore the vigilance and proactive efforts of law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety and combating criminal activities in Lagos State.
